MulticastingA Congestion Control Algorithm for Tree-Based Reliable Multicast Protocols This paper contains a detailed description of the congestion control algorithm of TRAM, a tree-based reliable multicast protocol. This algorithm takes advantage of regular acknowledgements from the receivers that propagate back to the sender via the repair tree. This scalable feedback mechanism is used to collect receiver credits. Complementing the windowing mechanism, packet transmission is smoothed by using a data rate commensurate with the window size.

Multi-VRF and IP Multicast Multi-VRF Customer Edge (VRF-Lite) enables Multiple VPN routing instances on Customer Edge devices and supports Cisco IOS IP Multicast. Since Multicast has become an integral part of many networks, it is critical that Cisco IOS Technologies support it. Once the unicast setup is complete, follow the steps mentioned in this white paper, to configure Multi-VRF and IP Multicast between the VPN provider and the customer.

Enterprise WAN Strategies: The Business Case for Multi-Vendor Networks This white paper examines the performance and cost-of-ownership benefits that make 3Com's Router 5000/3000 Series routers an attractive complement to embedded Cisco devices. This white paper will definitively show that the 3Com routers tested prove that they are interoperable with Cisco routers for a diverse set of router functions that include router protocols, link-level service protocol and advanced services such as multicasting and router redundancy protocols.

IPv6 Multicast Configuration in Cisco IOS Software Multicast is a major building block of IPv6 development and deployment. Similarly, to IPv4, the availability of applications on IPv6 hosts is primordial to the markets acceptance. Several applications are available today from free Mbone-based or commercials tools. In attempt to understand IPv6 Multicast and its configuration, this paper summarizes IPv6 Multicast protocols and its Cisco IOS Software configuration, associated with Microsoft Media Server and Player version 9.

Cisco IOS IPv6 Multicast Introduction This white paper introduces IPv6 Multicast to engineers who are already familiar with IPv4 Multicast. It highlights key topics that distinguish IPv4 and IPv6. IPv6 offers solutions to the limitations of IPv4 (RFC 791), which has been, and continues to be successful, but was never designed for the type of Internet-work that the Internet has become.
