Webcast - IP Voice From The Inside: The CNET Case Study

CNET Networks chose an IP Voice system for their new headquarters, to support more than 800 users. Why did they migrate to IP voice? Why did they go with a company without a legacy PBX or switch background? What did they learn? What do their users think of the new system? By viewing this Webcast, you can hear about IP voice directly from a company that brought it right in to their global headquarters. A Q&A with CNET's Don McGill and Shoreline VP Barry Castle follows the video case study. The program lasts approximately 35 minutes. tech news

CSU/DSU Non-Integrated vs. Router-Integrated

High-speed, LAN-attached applications continue to rise, generating an increasing need for cost-effective WANaccess for intranet and internet access implementation.Routed networking is today the most widely implementednetwork solution for organizations of all types. Digitalcircuits operating at speeds from 56Kbps (DDSservice) to 1.544Mbps (T1 and Fractional T1 services)to T3 (45 Mbps or 28 T1s) provide the WAN infrastructurethat interconnects the routers located at eachlocation served by the network.

The traditional approach to terminating DDS, T1/FT1and T3 circuits at each location is to use a standalone orhigh density rack mounted Channel Service Unit/DataService Unit (CSU/DSU). Line-by-line CSU/DSUsand CSU/DSUs providing integrated T1 access aremature products, and are available with enhancementssuch as SNMP management, direct Ethernet connections, and dial restoral features.

In addition to traditional standalone CSU/DSU solutions, routers with an integral CSU/DSU are available.Integrated CSU/DSU functionality initially mightappear to be a good choice, i.e., having one integratedunit instead of two functional units may provide certainreliability advantages. tech news

Using T1, ISDN and DSL Telco Lines in Consolidated Radio Facilities

Modern radio studios are digital, computer-assisted, and often consolidated. Modern telecom connections are digital and often high capacity, bearing little resemblance to the analog lines of old. Todays studio telephone interface gear must be ready to link these worlds, delivering audio quality and control flexibility. This article outlines the available digital telephone connection scenarios and describes requirements for a system that will capably serve todays multi-studio facilities. tech news

Lyris ListManager and Speed

The speed at which Lyris ListManager sends email depends on several variables. This paper discusses the key issues, and makes various recommendations for optimizing your ListManager license for best-possible mail delivery.

Sending mail at low speeds is relatively easy, so almost any configuration of hardware and bandwidth should work (for example, 10,000 messages per hour with a Platinum license, or fewer than 50,000 messages per hour with a Platinum Plus license).

Achieving higher speeds, however, requires that you invest in better infrastructure components and recognize certain real-world limitations of the Internet. tech news
