Since not every initial enquiry makes it through to the production line, the time spent on producing these drawings must be kept to a minimum, so that Emuge-Franken's internal resources are used as cost-efficiently as possible. With more customers expecting a detailed CAD drawing at the quotation stage, Emuge-Franken needed to optimise this part of the business process. Since Emuge Franken had experience of IBM eServer iSeries for its core ERP, payroll and CRM applications, IBM suggested testing to see whether a Linux logical partition (LPAR) on a new iSeries could handle the archiving and retrieval of CAD drawings.
