Make the Microsoft .NET Framework Real - Enterprise Solutions for Today

Most enterprises feature a complex environment of multiple platforms, middleware, and datastores. Adding .NET to the mix increases the cost and complexity of these systems. See an integrated set of open solutions for the implementation and deployment of .NET applications into real enterprise environments dominated by J2EE applications and CORBA services. tech news

Business Modelling for Component Systems With UML

This paper shows how a business model can be structured to provide the mapping between real world business concepts and software artifacts, which is essential if the full benefits of component based development are to be realised, as it leads to fewer transformations, more robust design and better resilience to business change. tech news

Bridging the Gap Between Acme and UML 2.0 for CBD

Architecture Description Languages (ADLs) such as Acme (a mainstream second generation ADL which contains the most common ADL constructs) provide formality in the description of software architectures, but are not easily reconciled with day-today development concerns, thus hampering their adoption by a larger community. UML, on the other hand, has become the de facto standard notation for design modeling, both in industry and in academia. This paper maps Acme modeling abstractions into UML 2.0, using its new component modeling constructs, its lightweight extension mechanisms and OCL well-formedness rules. tech news

Testing Distributed Component Based Systems Using UML/OCL

This paper presents a pragmatic approach using formal methods to increase the quality of distributed component based systems: Based on UML class diagrams annotated with OCL constraints, code for runtime checking of components in J2EE/EJB is automatically generated. Thus, a UML-model for a component can be used in a black-box test for the component. Further, the paper introduces different design patterns for EJBs, which are motivated by different levels of abstraction, and show that these patterns work smoothly together with our OCL constraint checking. tech news

Enhancing an Open Source UML Editor by Context-Based Constraints for Components

The Component Constraint Language (CCL) developed by CIS at the Technical University Berlin enables the developer to add context-based constraints (CoCons) to a component specification model. This produces a model, which goes beyond the simple description of the system's static structure. At this time, there is no tool to integrate the component specification model into the development process. The primary goal of this master's thesis was to design such a tool, thereby supporting the Continuous Software Engineering (CSE) philosophy. tech news
